You might notice that my goal numbers have changed up a bit. This is because I am right about at goal weight, and with the running that is being done, I can afford to eat a little more. As the big mileage comes around, I will be adding on more calories. I will still monitor my caloric burn, to make sure I don’t gain weight.

2nd Day – When the Pain Sets In

Okay so my impromptu attempt at ladder olympics, day before yesterday, has temporarily sidelined me. I took a big tumble from an 8 foot ladder, trying to trim back tree limbs that were hanging over the driveway. My neck became really sore and stiff last night and into this morning. I took a muscle relaxer last night, to see if that would loosen things up.

Nope.

I had to forego this morning’s run, to prevent anymore irritation to my neck. I MIGHT try later on a treadmill, but as it stands, today has become a rest day.

This was my rest day, however it was spent mostly in the hospital waiting room. I wasn’t there for myself.

Had to run a little cautiously this morning. I fell off an 8ft ladder yesterday evening and banged up my left side pretty good. Just wanted to make sure I didn’t make anything worse.

A Monday Rest Day Can Be a Productive Rest Day

After a long run this weekend, and after that great ride yesterday I am enjoying a lazy day.  It isn’t a do-nothing kind of day however.  I took my girl Christie to the hospital this morning for a scheduled surgery.  I am spending time in the waiting area, listening to classical music, doing some reading, and of course taking care of a few items on my to-do list.

I have reached out to the folks at Scottish Rite Hospital to share my journey.  I am hoping this opens some doors to start to speak to people about hope and my belief that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything!  I really believe I have a higher calling!
